Bill and Mary Jane McCalmon
Bill and Mary Jane are both former school teachers and school administrators who haved lived and worked in Portland, Maine most of their lives. Mary Jane, although a retired school superintendant, does educational consulting throughout the state. Bill, who oversees the daily operation of the store, comes from a similar background in education, retiring as a special education director before spending almost 20 years in financial consulting.
They purchased the Long Island Store in 2001 and had had lived on the island during summers from 1979 through 1987. At that time their children, Ryan and Sarah, were just 4 and 2 years old. Now Ryan is 33 and married to Sarah Dodwell, the daughter of Kathy and Peter Dodwell on the West end. Ryan works in Boston and lives in Worcester where wife Sarah is finishing her third year of medical school. Daughter Sarah lives in Newton, Mass. with husband Andrew, a Canadian and electrical engineer. Sarah is completing work in 2009 on a doctorate in molecular biology at B.U.
