The Long Island Store

Since acquiring the Long Island Store in 2001, we have been in transition from a full service, year round grocery store to more of a convenience store with additional food offerings.  Much has happened in the past eight years of ownership.  The closing of Maria's pizza and acquiring the lovely Lorinda helped pave the way for more food.  The weekly trips by islanders to town on banana box Tuesday for most of their groceries made it apparent that more convenience items was the way to go.  Dalmation Oil's entry into the fuel oil business was also a factor in changing my business model from being open 12 months to 4 months.  But things happen for a reason.  And I am content spending my retirement years with less work and more time to travel and play golf.  Next summer islanders can expect the trend to continue on this path.
